Define the Purpose and Plan the Overall Layout
First up, have a clear purpose in mind. You might want to create a gentle boundary or you might want to enhance the beauty of your yard.

Measure the Area for the First Post
From the starting point to the end post, nail the fencing stakes about one or two feet inside the ground.
You might want to get a taut string to help you measure the path of the fence. Mark the areas where you want the fence to begin and end.
Start Digging
Now that you have taken all the measurements, this is the time when the digging begins. You need to dig a hole that is around 8 inches in width and around two feet in depth. You can use a post-hole digger to achieve this feat.
